live love rezia

Out of all the characters, Rezia is by far my favorite. She leads a fairly innocent and regular life, and all she wants is a loving husband and a cute little baby. She was just an Italian girl living and enjoying life with her family.

In Milan, she felt that her life was perfect. Rezia was “gay [and] frivolous, with those little artist’s fingers” (Woolf 87). She was surrounded by her family and she had met such a charming man that she admired. She likes the fact that he is quiet and she respected Englishmen. She probably felt like she was on top of the world; she was immersed in love (even if she didn’t know that Septimus didn’t love her). Tangent: Seriously, what the heck Septimus, it isn’t cool to play with people’s feelings. You shouldn’t marry someone just for the heck of it. She gave up her entire life just to marry you and moved to a foreign country while you’re off thinking about how Shakespeare said love is repulsive.  
Anyways, in London, Rezia’s life is strikingly different. She is isolated and has to suffer Septimus’s trauma. She basically has no friends (except for a few neighbors) and her husband, who is supposed to be her best friend, barely converses with her. She obviously cares for and wants to help Septimus, though. She seeks help from doctors and follows all of their requests. For example, when Dr. Holmes tells her he keeps a healthy lifestyle by eating porridge every morning, she obliges and does the same for Septimus.
                Her life seems so simple compared to the rest of the characters. She doesn’t have many demons or regrets in life, her biggest goal at the moment is help return her husband back to normal. She’s a nice girl who just wants the best for her husband but she’s forced to face his suicide. I can’t but also wonder with her, what has she done to deserve that?

After the book has ended, there are many questions about her that stand unanswered. Does she move back to Italy? Does she get remarried? Will she have a great life? I just want to know because she’s my favorite?

The media often influences our perspectives as a society of what we should think about certain things. Let’s take the big booty craze that dominated this summer.
